Inspiration from other music videos, some containing performance and narrative, and some containing performance and concept:
SLIP- Stooshe
The performance section of their music video for 'Slip' takes place in three different sets, each one looks classy and fashionable, and very well lit. The girls are dressed up glamourously, with immaculate hair and make-up. The narrative shows the girls at a bowling alley, interacting with people an dancing on the lanes in customised bowling jackets and shoes.
Coutney had a sparkley gold backdrop, contrasting with her plain black outfit. Her edgy hairstyle and tattoos are really emphasized by this backdrop.
Alex is seated, on what appears to be a very large fancy sofa backdrop. The colours are plain, accentuating her hot pink outfit, and glamorous hair, make up and jewellery.
Karis's dress contrast with the striped background behind her, this backdrop has a psychedelic feel.
WRECKING BALL- Miley Cyrus
ECUs and MCUs on a plain white background with high key lighting. Her blue eyes and red lips stand out, making the image very striking, Miley sings and cries. The rest of the video shows a wrecking ball destroying a concrete room, with Miley riding it both clothed and naked, and Miley holding and licking a hammer.
Extreme close ups of Miley's face as she sings and cries, her skin looks flawless, and her make up is simple, just mascara and a strong red lip. The high key lighting accentuates the colours on her face (blue and red), against the simple white background.
Medium close ups include Mileys hands as she moves about much more as she sings, her expressions are accentuated in these shots as she sings the chorus.
WANT U BACK- Cher Lloyd ft. Astro
Performance is shown in moving images of Cher in photographs and magazines, as well as her singing to the camera in her bedroom.
Cher sings from a polaroid photo of her and her ex boyfriend, he is unmoving in the photograph, while she sings and interacts with his motionless figure. Her hand is cut off to the side, implying she has taken the photo.
Cher lies on her bed in her bedroom and sings to the photos of her ex and to the camera. The setting is dressed in a very typically girly way, and a variety of shot types and angles are used.
More poloroid pictures of Cher alone, this shows her singing to the camera from a bath filled with balloons, showing a fun and playful image.
Cher sings from a magazine advert, branded with the title 'Tough Love', this is a very current and modern image, showing Cher to be very powerful and successful.
Other photos of Cher's ex and new girlfriend show them out having fun, Cher walks into these photos and causes mischief, such as drawing moustaches, and pouring water on them. Here she sits behind them in the cinema, giving them dirty looks and throwing popcorn, whilst also singing her song.
These images are taken from the magazine advert presentation, showing a variety of different shot types within it.
EGO- The Saturdays
The video is superhero themed, showing the gilrs in their different superhero personas alongside the narrative of a guy who seems to be portrayed as a 'hero', who they are bringing the downfall of.
Frankie wears a black studded jacket, lit amongst the paparazzi, while they take no notice of her as she sings to the camera.
Una is in a dirty alleyway setting, leant against a brick wall around peeling posters some branding the male actor as a 'hero', she is lit with predominantly yellow lighting, and later steps out from the shadows, opening her jacket to reveal her superhero uniform.
Molly crouches on top of a building, holding onto a winged gargoyle, she is seen in her black and white winged outfit, with a silver lightening bolt painted on her face. She surveys her surroundings as she sings, while wind blows her hair back.
Rochelle sings from a street corner, dressed in a black mac, which she later removes to reveal her blue superhero cat suit.
Vanessa is dressed in her yellow superheo costume singing as she looks out of a motel window.
Long shot as the five sing together from two cars, all are dressed as superheroes.
Close ups of the girls from the same shot are also seen.
