Character inspiration

This video by Massad depicts a pretty generic story, a boy who is in love with the girl next door. Far from the usual, stereotypical representation of events, here we see that the girl next door, Jamima, is a dorky, awkward, unique girl, who is completely comfortable in her own skin, who 'Vinnie Vulo' ( Massad's character in the video) loves, just the way she is. This refreshing take is inspirational and carries a really positive message, highlighted with the 'big reveal' of a girl dressed up at prom, we expect to see Jamima, and audiences will be surprised and happy to realise this is not in fact Jamima, with her pulling up on a bike, dressed in her typically kooky way.

Storyline:
Vinnie Vulo sits in his American suburban garden playing his guitar when a frisbee from next door hits him on the head, he then sees Jamima bouncing on her trampoline next door, and an inflatable alligator is also thrown into his garden. He looks over the fence and sees Jamima being her usual kooky awkward self in her garden, including showing her accidentally blowing herself in the face with a leaf blower in slow motion. He goes next door to return the alligator, and we see several different shots of Jamima opening the door dressed in different costumes, including in Massad's own clothes while he is seen wearing hers. The second verse shows Vinnie in school waving to Jamima as she cycles past, moving to their gym class together, where Jamima dances and attempts to perform gymnastic routines, unsuccessfully. The final setting is their prom, with Vinnie waiting outside for his date while the rest of the kids dance inside the school hall, time passes and Jamima gets ready, seemingly unsure as what to wear, finally arriving to the prom dressed in her usually kooky way, despite a section where we appear to see a 'big reveal', turning out to be another girl. The music video ends with the pair and the rest of their class performing a dance routine at prom, and Jamima attempts to twirl into Vinnie's arms and falls over.

Jamima

This character is not only funny, and relatable to some, she is also inspirational, as the whole video shows us a guy in love with a girl for being herself. Jamie Curry plays Jamima, she's an Internet famous Australian Facebooker, who posted a series of funny videos to her Facebook page, which were shared and ended up becoming seen by thousands all over the world. She's an old friend of Massad's, and he's used her fun and unashamed acting style, along with her current Internet fame to create a really funn and popular music video.  The character of Jamima has qualities we'd like to channel into our own characterisation, and the cheesy presentation of Vinnie and Jamima is the kind of vibe we aim to achieve.
