On Monday, we had our first meeting with the
teachers. That day we had discovered a song that we wanted to do with a vague
idea so were prepared to discuss this in terms of plausibility and audience
attraction with the teachers.
We agreed on the song
'Teenage Dirtbag' covered by Girls Aloud but originally by Wheatus. We felt
this was combining the two genres of teenage angst-ridden rock and the girl
band girlishness. We believe we have met in between these genres which will be
useful when it comes to planning our marketing campaign.
We pitched our idea and
threw more ideas around the table about how we could develop it, revolving
around geeky girls wanting a popular guy. We thought more carefully about the
mix of narrative and performance and how we could combine these effectively. We
also discussed intertextuality and how we could incorporate this aspect into
our video.
We also refered to these videos for explanation:
So far our idea is:
- a girl band made up of us three: Alicia, Olivia and Emily
- In the video we are acting as geeks, for comedy effect. This narrative needs to be worked on
- Completely seperate to this characterisation, we are also performing as ourselves in a girl group
- We won't be taking the lyrics too literally and will be presenting our own interpretations of them.
- Shooting will take place predominantly on location, with use of the studio in some cases
