With our third meeting, we decided to abandon our plans to shoot in London, as we felt this would be an unwise decision due to difficulty, and the fact that we have the studio available to us. The Monopoly imagery did not seem extensive enough to base our video narrative around, as it relied on a few props, and a few London road signs, and the context behind the idea (why the girls are in a Monopoly game) proved to be very difficult to portray without coming off as far fetched and ridiculous, and potentially losing the attention of our audience.
When thinking about our strengths and the best suited styles and settings for our group, we came up with a new idea:
The three girls are in a sleepover setting, presented as your very typically girly girls, eating pizza, doing makeovers, having pillow fights and watching TV. As they flick through the channels, they see themselves performing dressed in different styles portraying different kinds of girl band.
PUNKY
QUIRKY/HIPSTER POP
RAP
R&B
ROCK
GRUNGE/INDIE
POP
We think this would be a good idea because it relies heavily on performance, which is one of the strengths of our group. It also works with the slightly ambiguous genre surrounding our song choice - the merge between pop/rock/punk. We were also very keen to incorporate costume changes into video, as this is something very accessible to us as girly girls. We also like how the idea is not only interesting, but relatively simple compared to our previous ideas.
