Rap Shoot

Yesterday evening we did our first shoot which we dedicated to the rap genre. We were shooting from about 5:00 to 9:00. We used the two of the three lighting set-ups we had planned, abandoning the blue and red flashing lights.

The two lighting set-ups we used were:

RED

BLUE

The different shots types we shot with were:

MID SHOT

FREE FORM (where we are getting most of our close ups from)

LOW ANGLE

LONG SHOT

The shoot was a success because:

• we organised costume well, even having spare things on the day for any last minute costume decisions
• we got into character and were a lot more comfortable in front of the camera than we were anticipating
• looking back at the footage, we can see the lighting was perfect at conveying the genre
• it was generally a fun and rewarding experience

Problems:

• the footage is very focused on Emily
• a lot of the shots cut off the tops of our heads
